Payment and Withdrawal Policy

Effective Date: June 4, 2025

This Payment and Withdrawal Policy outlines the terms that govern your purchase and use of credits on the Lingochats Platform. Please review it carefully, as it outlines your rights and obligations, including specific limitations and conditions related to payments and withdrawals.

Transactions Between Learners and Locals

Lingochats serves as an intermediary platform that allows Learners and Locals to connect, communicate, and exchange services. We are not a party to any contract between Learners and Locals and are not liable for the services or content exchanged between them. Additionally, Lingochats does not supervise or validate any transactions made between parties.

Accepted Currencies and Exchange Rates

Payments are processed in one of the accepted currencies: USD, EUR, or GBP, as indicated during checkout. Prices shown in other currencies are indicative only, and payments will be settled in USD.

If your billing currency differs or is unsupported, transactions may be processed internationally and may incur fees or exchange rate differences. Lingochats is not responsible for such fees.

Fees and Taxes

Lingochats charges service fees to both Learners and Locals, which may be subject to applicable taxes. All fees and taxes are shown before payment is completed.

Locals are responsible for tax compliance, including VAT obligations in the EU. Lingochats may issue invoices on behalf of Locals for tax reporting purposes and may withhold taxes if required.

Service fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

Lingochats Commission

Locals are charged a commission fee on each conversation they complete. Commission rates are published at: Commission Rates.

Payment Processing Fee

A Processing Fee is applied to each Learner transaction and will be clearly shown at checkout.

Credit Refund Policy

Refund requests must be submitted to support@Lingochats.com. Refunds are granted at the Local’s discretion for extenuating circumstances but are not guaranteed.

Refunds will not be issued for forgotten login credentials, lost internet connection, system resets, or updates.

To request a refund, include:

  • Date and time of the conversation
  • Reason for the request

Refund decisions will be made within 30 calendar days.

Chargebacks

If a chargeback is initiated, Lingochats may suspend your account. Any fees or costs associated with the chargeback will be your responsibility.

Inactive Accounts

Accounts that remain inactive for over 180 days may be suspended, and all unused credits will be forfeited.

Account Deletion

Deleting your account or being suspended for a policy violation will result in loss of all remaining credits, with no refund or compensation.

Payment Handling and Security

All payments are processed securely via third-party providers like Square and PayPal using SSL encryption. Once payment is made, the Learner’s financial obligation to the Local is considered fulfilled.

Billing Data

Lingochats does not store or process your payment details. These are handled entirely by our secure third-party processors and governed by their privacy policies.

  • Korean cards (South Korea)
  • Alipay and WeChat Pay (China)
  • Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link
  • Cash App Pay (United States)
  • ACH Direct Debit (United States)
  • Canadian pre-authorized debits (Canada)
  • SEPA Direct Debit (Europe)
  • Bank transfer (Europe, United Kingdom, Japan, Mexico, United States)

All platform usage and services must be paid for directly via the Lingochats Platform. Learners are responsible for any applicable transaction fees.

Payouts to Locals

Locals earn credits for completed sessions, which can be withdrawn as cash upon meeting the following conditions:

  • Identity verification
  • Annual tax documentation (per DAC7 for EU or CRA rules for Canada)

Third-party processors may deduct a transaction fee from the payout, which will be shown in your dashboard.

Lingochats is not a financial institution. All transactions exist solely to facilitate the connection and exchange of services between Learners and Locals. Misuse of the platform for illegal or fraudulent activity is strictly prohibited.
